Meet Michelle

Mother, eczema warrior, tea lover, and founder of Empowered Eczema

After a severe eczema flare spread rapidly while she was beginning graduate school, Michelle embarked on a journey to uncover her personal triggers and develop a healing approach that worked for her. Inspired by her experience and passion for learning, she has spent the past eight years sharing eczema education, tips, and encouragement with an online community.

What does “empowered” mean to you?

I created Empowered Eczema (my website and socials) because I was genuinely empowered by my own eczema journey. I couldn’t believe I had the power to heal myself and I wasn’t at the mercy of my body. I felt in control. I also came to realize how lucky I was to have eczema because my body was able to visually show me something was off.

Favorite eczema-friendly comfort meal?

Definitely a recipe I created, “the gut healing super soup,” which helped me and so many others heal faster. You start with meat stock or bone broth, then beets, leeks, thyme, cabbage and any other veggies you tolerate. You can also add chicken to it to add protein. It’s delicious and healing.

If someone reading this is struggling today, what’s a gentle reminder you’d want them to hold onto?

Simply starting the journey to love your body even with eczema is one of the most healing things you can do.
